Watchtower?

Was rather bored, so (lo and behold), I picked up a tract published by none other than the
Watchtower Society.

For those who don't know, the Watchtower Society is the organization run by Jehovah's Witnesses.

It's fun to read stuff (books, etc.) by cults (though some Christians find it repulsive and some would actually apply demonic status to those objects, no doubt due to the unfortunate fact that they have no idea how to respond to them), especially when their arguments for legitimacy are especially poor.

I happen to have read an older tractbook published by the Watchtower (c. 1980). I compared it with the one I just read, (which was published in 2005) and no, not much has changed. Not even the cheesy illustrations. What cracked me up was someone donating blood (or receiving it, I dunno). And it was among those illustrations of greed, lust etc. Hehe...

Well, let me come back to the unfortunate responses I've seen some Christians give to these cults. No doubt, most of the stuff they produce is bad scholarship (Christ nailed to a stake, for instance), bad theology and what have you, all being deserving of the rubbish bin.

But people are in those cults. And in people I take interest. Prayer and talking about those "poor deluded folks" certainly have their place, but it is not only the only response(s) it should elicit.

We must also strive to understand them and their teachings, and most importantly, respond to them. Only then, when one knows-thy-enemy can we be truly able to give the appropriate response that is demanded by the Bible.

Well, just a short thought. This is probably the last time I will write here for a long while. At least, until we have the internet up and running in our new house (I'm currently writing this from my now practically empty old house).

God bless; Soli Deo Gloria!
