My First Post!

This shall be my inaugaral, very first post, on my stupid new blog.

Here I will discuss matters pertaining to religion since I'm Christian and loving it! (Huh...oxymoron?) Of course that does not mean I'll babble or rant about other things. Heh.

Being an ex-charismatic (You know, those people who speak in tongues and get slain in the spirit) won over to pure orthodoxy (I'm attending a Reformed Baptist Church), from singing songs drenched with drums, piano and guitar to regular hymns without any musical instruments whatsoever, one is tended to ask, "HOW?".

Not many Christians nowadays take their faith seriously. Most Christians treat their Christianity as an "accessory". I wear it sometimes, and take it off when I want to.

This shouldn't be. Like other Christian teens like me, they use Christianity as a mask. Though I have seen teens who act full of "zeal" while in a Church environment, one tends to think whether they were saved in the first place when they are in the company of unbelievers.

I have been branded "fanatical" by some, and called a "fundie" by others. I don't mind these tags, because they are very true of me. I am a Christian in no matter what situation. One might say I take it too seriously.

When I was eleven I started debating with atheists and other skeptics of Christianity. Now, even when I am just turning fifteen, I have no problem talking with my pastor about predestination and justification. (Not to boast, but...how many Christian teenagers have even heard of these words?)

And when I'm asked were I would further my studies I'll reply, "In a theological seminary." Of course, I then receive a blank stare when I reply to their question, "What do you want to be when you are grown up?" "Uh...maybe a theologion or apologist but I'll settle for being a teacher of doctrine in my church." So there you have it. I want to be in the rank and fold of the "clergy". Yikes, coming from a teen.

What do I do for a hobby? Well what else? I debate with atheists! They tend to bring up a lot of ethical questions when they attack Christianity. Rarely do they present some good attacks. I don't do it all the time though. I read books about various Christian doctrines, groups, cults. Now sermons are boring to me not because they are just plain boring, but because I don't learn enough. Meatier sermons please!

That also doesn't mean I fellowship most with unbelievers. I spend some time debating with Roman Catholics, Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons. Not to mention Muslims, but they are usually pelted with rather degrading insults that they are hardly present in discussion boards or chatrooms.

But am I enjoying being a Christian? Of course! Unfortunately though, when I present my beliefs to other Christians I have been labeled "legalistic". In fact, I have never been more free in my entire life.

And what do I want for my birthday? I would love a Hebrew and Greek Lexicon, thank you.

Anyway, peppered throughout this blog that is still in its infancy is mainly, my thoughts about Christianity and its degrading condition :-)

But for now, it's back to apologetics and soul-winning for you, young-lad.

Looking back, the author acknowledges his (wrongful) pride at being the only teen who knows what predestination/justification is and who finds sermons boring because they don't teach enough (although this is true of most churches I've atteneded).

The author also laughes at some other things here. Looking back, he says that he was rather precocious at that time, and has since been mellowed, humbled and meekened by Christians, Atheists and other people whom he has conversed with.

Ah the nostalgia of looking at how the author was a year ago!
